Very few businesses have neither courted PE Investment, especially Venture Capital or Growth Capital, nor had to fend off the ‘Barbarians at the Gate’ when their business has attracted the interest of a PEH (Private Equity House) and a potential LBO (Leverage Buy-Out).

Whilst these type of PE Investments may have been the most common at the turn of the Century, recessions probably see a rise in Distressed and Special Situation Investments.  But first the Private Equities are keen to get their own Houses in order as many of their investments, with which they have taken significant equity, are themselves in need of financial and operational restructuring.
